Accountability:
Please understand this community activity and your commitment to volunteer impacts CAAR, Habitat for Humanity, and our community overall. If you are not able to attend the event 48-hours in advance or less, it is up to you to find another CAAR member to replace you. If you do not show or cannot find a replacement, we request you donate $25 to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville. This donation will help cover volunteer/productivity time lost and food/beverage expenses.

Registration:
This volunteer opportunity is FREE! Please note, you receive an email requesting you also register with Habitat for Humanity as you will need to sign a waiver.

Location:
There is no address associated with the exact Southwood location, but it's easy to find with a lot of ample signage to indicate that you are approaching a Habitat build site. To find the location, go down 5th Street until it turns into Old Lynchburg Road, past the Wegmen's about two miles. From there, you will turn on Hickory Road. Then proceed to drive down Horizon until you reach the Habitat model home. You will be working on the house to the left of the model home. Click here for a map.

Many 18 wheelers will be coming and going from this location to drop supplies. Because of this, Habitat is asking volunteers to be mindful of parking too close to intersections so there ca be space for these vehicles to come and go. Additionally, there are "no parking" sings indicated on certain sides of the street so be mindful. There is a lot of parking on the right hand side of the street in front of the house.

Scope of Work:
Home construction - framing

Attire:
Closed toe shoes. Bring a full water bottle.
